Program Notes

With Courage and Compassion (A Salute to First Responders) was written in 2003 on a 20th Anniversary commission from the Carson City Symphony. The work represents a personal response to the tragedy of September 11th. Part of that response is a renewed sense of gratitude for the work of first responders in every community. With Courage and Compassion is life-affirming. It honors the lives of those heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on that day.

It also celebrates first responders in all communities--local heroes who place their lives on the line each and every day. It is to first responders everywhere that this work is dedicated.
